SECTION 12 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND POLICIES
League Governance and Rule Adjustments
The Commissioner/League Director/League Manager is the same position and serves as the top authority within Lone
Star Legends Flag Football, overseeing all operations, rules, scheduling, and enforcement.
Each Division Director works under the Commissioner and assists with game-day management in
their assigned division. Division Directors coordinate field setup,
referee crews, and on-site issue resolution, reporting directly to the Commissioner.
• The Commissioner has sole discretion to modify, add, or remove rules between seasons to improve
league play or organization.
• During an active season, any proposed rule changes must be approved by a majority vote of current
head coaches, unless the change is made for injury prevention or player safety, in which case the Commissioner retains 100 percent discretion to act immediately.
•All rule updates will be communicated promptly to coaches, players, and parents.
Volunteer and Coaching Assignments
The league welcomes community and parent volunteers; however, if there are more volunteers than
available positions, selection will occur at the League Director’s discretion based on:
• Order of sign-up
• Energy, enthusiasm, and commitment demonstrated by the volunteer
Each team may have up to four coaches — three adults and one youth coach. Priority for head-coach
and assistant-coach roles is given to parents of participating players.
The Commissioner and Division Directors may coach provided that:
1. They are not involved in officiating oversight for games they coach.
2. Either the Commissioner, Division Manager, or a league-approved assistant is present on-site
during those games.
3. OR A Designated Director of Referee Operations is onsite.
Coaches may lead multiple teams if each competes in a different age division.
Modified Schedule for 3–4 Age Division/3 Team Age Divisions
The youngest division (ages 3–4) follows a shorter format suited to developmental level and attention
span:
• 15-minute practice immediately before the game
• 35-minute game
Total session length: approximately 1 hour
Older divisions follow the standard schedule of a 2 hour combined practice and game period. If an age group is only able to form 3 teams one team will play a double header every third week and one team will play an early game followed by practice and the other team will follow the normal schedule of practice followed by game.
Roster Adjustments and Player Transfers
In rare cases where a player-or-parent conflict arises with a coach, the league may permit a
team-to-team transfer.
• Transfers require agreement from both sets of parents and the receiving coach.
• The original coach must coordinate the trade directly with another team.
• Uniform costs for both the transferring player and any player exchanged must be paid by the
requesting family.
• This rule applies only in extreme circumstances and must be approved by the League Director.
Weather, Safety, and Communication
• In cases of lightning, heavy rain, or unsafe field conditions, the League Director will decide whether
to delay, postpone, or cancel games.
• Once a game has commenced officials will be responsible for weather related delays and/or cancellations. If thunder or lightning are observed, a delay of 30 minutes should begin, and play must not resume until no further thunder or lighting is observed for a full 30 minutes.
• Make-up games will be scheduled when field time allows.
• Official updates will be distributed via league email, website postings, and social-media channels.
• Parents and coaches should check these channels regularly on game days.
Closing Note
These policies ensure Lone Star Legends Flag Football remains organized, safe, and competitive while giving
coaches and players the flexibility to develop unique team identities within a unified league structure.
